Banana, Wolfberry and Kasha Breakfast Cereal
November 2, 2008 by Curt Siters
I recently tried Kasha as a hot cereal. I followed the recipe that came with it and found it was quite good. However, being the tinker I am I played with the recipe and found the addition of bananas and wolfberries to be excellent. The original recipe called for "your favorite sweetener" but I found that the strong flavor of the groats masked the lighter sweeteners such as Young Livings Blue Agave Nectar (#3224) and plain sugar.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup Kasha
- 1 banana
- 1/8 cup Young Living Dried Wolfberries (#6360)
- Honey or Maple Syrup to taste*
Directions
In a medium saucepan bring water to a boil and add the salt. Stir in the Kasha and cook for 8-11 minutes, uncovered. After cooking for six minutes add the wolfberries and continue cooking for the remainder of the time.
While the Kasha and wolfberries cook cut the banana up into your favorite bowl(s).
When finished cooking add the Kasha to the bowl and top with your sweetener.
*Try Tupelo honey or maple syrup from Williams-Sonoma.
